As an old mill house, there is flowing and standing water in close proximity to the house. There are sharp drops from bridges and walls, and steep stone steps all around the house and grounds. Flagstone and wooden surfaces become slippery when wet or icy. Unfortunately there is no disabled access.
Children are very welcome - but must be appropriately supervised at all times due to unfenced waterways and architectural hazards. There is space for one travel cot in the master bedroom - please bring your own cot and highchair should you require them.
Please respect the peace of the valley. Trethake is a tranquil and secluded place. We have very few neighbours and abundant wildlife who enjoy the quietude of this extraordinary sanctuary. You are very welcome to enjoy the grounds and gardens, day and night - but no outdoor amplified music, and no noise louder than an owl's hoot after dark!
We are blessed with abundant wildlife. As in any countryside house, creatures will find their way into the house in the form of insects, spiders, moths and butterflies - and if you're lucky the occasional bird, bat or shrew. Please be kind - let these creatures out without harming them. Note that many are protected species under UK law.
You will almost certainly want to have a car to get about. We have guest parking for 2 cars on our gated gravel driveway. The closest train station is at Liskeard (a 25 minute drive away, 15 miles).
